Rawalpindi:Under Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s ‘Clean Punjab Program,’ the Rawalpindi Waste Management Company successfully completed the grand Eidul Azha cleanliness operation. In just three days, over 23,000 tons of animal waste from sacrificial animals were properly disposed of from 22 tehsils of Rawalpindi Division.
More than 800 complaints regarding cleanliness were resolved during the operation. A total of 11,687 workers and 2,823 vehicles participated in the campaign. Around 1,026,000 biodegradable waste bags and over 100,000 awareness pamphlets were distributed among citizens of the Rawalpindi Division for proper waste disposal.
Commissioner Rawalpindi Aamir Khattak personally supervised the Eid cleanliness operation, visiting various districts including Rawalpindi during Eid days and issuing on-the-spot instructions for improvement. Acting on the commissioner’s directives, Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi and Chairman RWMC Hasan Waqar Cheema, CEO RWMC Rana Sajid Safdar, Additional Deputy Commissioners, and Assistant Commissioners from City, Saddar, and Cantonment areas visited the city, transfer stations, and control rooms over the three days to review operations.
Prominent figures such as Senior Provincial Minister Maryam Aurangzeb, MNA Tahira Aurangzeb, and MPAs Raja Muhammad Hanif and Ziaullah Shah also visited central control rooms and transfer stations to monitor the operation.
Assistant Commissioners from Taxila, Kahuta, Kallar Syedan, and Gujar Khan, along with Deputy Commissioners and Assistant Commissioners from Murree, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, and Talagang, collaborated with RWMC officers to ensure the successful execution of the cleanliness campaign.
Elected representatives and the public appreciated the efforts wholeheartedly. MNA Tahira Aurangzeb, Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi, Parliamentary Secretary for Information Barrister Daniyal Chaudhry, and other provincial legislators praised Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the administration, and RWMC for the successful operation.
Commissioner Rawalpindi expressed satisfaction with the overall cleanliness and commended CEO RWMC Rana Sajid Safdar and his entire team. The CEO informed that workers continued their duties in shifts for 72 hours straight. The RWMC control room remained active 24/7, ensuring real-time complaint resolution. The operation started a day before Eid and continued without interruption until the third day.
