In my opinion, the signing by the president into law of the Islamabad Capital Territory Child Marriage Restraint Bill 2025 was quite appropriate and timely. The bill sets 18 years as the minimum age limit for marriage in the federal capital.
The law will go a long way in protecting the rights of children. Childhood marriages jeopardise the health and the well-being of young girls and deprive them of important opportunities in life.
